The New York Times highlighted a bronze statue of a little girl installed on International Women’s Day and located in Wall Street staring across the infamous Charging Bull.
The bronze statue is said to provide the Financial District with some gender diversity and while Kristen Visbal, the statue’s creator expected her installation to be removed the following month, it’s reported that the statue will remain in place for at least another year.
Good news for feminists across the city and for those who feel the statue will empower little girls who can relate to the “Fearless” statue. Online petitions were reportedly created in hopes of keeping the statue as a permanent fixture in New York City. Mayor de Blasio also offered his support in the statue’s message.
